Canelo Alvarez Update
According to fightnews.com, WBC Junior Middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) won’t agree to fight Unbeaten WBA Junior Middleweight champion Austin Trout on May 4th on Golden Boy’s pay per view card on HBO unless Golden Boy will guarantee that he will get a fight against Pound for Pound King Floyd Mayweather Jr. on September 14th later on in this year. If Golden Boy won’t guarantee Canelo fight then he may look to fight next in his home of Mexico. So if we see a Canelo Vs Trout fight on May 4th you can put your house on a mega bout betweet Mayweather and Alvarez come September, all be it presuming that Mayweather gets past his next opponent that is speculated to be Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero.
Pound for Pound Lists, Should We Trust Them?
Throughout the years we have seen this Pound for Pound lists, it’s supposed to tell us which are the ten best fighters in the world regardless of what division they’re in. But for the past few years, we have seen two names at the top of the list and it seemed that they would never lose those two spots until this month when one of them was knocked out cold. That being Manny Pacquiao, who in the most popular list of them all, The Ring’s list, has fallen to number 7. Let’s take a look at that list shall we? 1. Floyd Mayweather For years Mayweather has been either number one or number two on this list, but honestly, I don’t see him as the number one pound for pound fighter in the world. Why is that if he’s still undefeated? He is still as dominant as ever many will say, well, is he as dominant as ever? The man hasn’t fought since May of last year, and he fought Miguel Cotto, who was coming off victories over faded Ricardo Mayorga and disgraced one-eyed Antonio Margarito. While Floyd did dominate and win in a lopsided unanimous decision, he was not as… Read More »
Pacquiao’s reign falls, but Boxing will not Die!
Saturday June, 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Timothy Bradley challenged Manny Pacquiao for Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight title trying to shock the world, and did he ever. During the whole fight we saw something we have only seen when Pacquiao has fought Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez, we saw a Pacquiao opponent that was actually trying to win rather than just surviving. However, before the fight started, Manny Pacquiao seemed to want to show the world that he’s bigger than boxing, to me that’s what it looked like, Manny decided to make everybody wait for the fight because he wanted to see a basketball game, are you kidding me? A basketball game! You have a championship fight on hand, an opponent ready to get in the ring and trade punches with you, and you want to see a basketball game, wow! And then to make matters worst, he decides to leave his dressing room, supposedly to stretch his calves on a treadmill, why didn’t he notify anybody of what he was going to do? Why wasn’t the treadmill in his dressing room? And why didn’t he tell the cameras to show him working on that treadmill so that there wouldn’t… Read More »
Andres’ Weekly Boxing Recap
Saturday May 26, at Nottingham, England Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KOs) TKO5 Lucian Bute (30-1, 24 KOs) Coming into the fight, many people expected Bute to get the win, some were just wondering how impressively he would win, some of us thought that the fight would be very competitive and that it would be very tough for both fighters. As we all know Carl Froch lost to Andre Ward in the final of the Super Six tournament organized by Showtime, and Andre Ward said he would fight Bute if Bute was to beat Carl Froch first. Needless to say that many boxing fans were expecting Bute to get the win on his way to Andre Ward. Lucian Bute has been accused regularly of only fighting in his hometown, so this time he wanted to prove everybody wrong by going into Froch’s backyard to fight him. As for Carl Froch who said that he would retire if he lost to Bute, this was in a sense his last chance to prove that he is what he is, one of the elite super middleweights in the world. There is a lot to like about Carl Froch, I’ve always liked his style, he… Read More »
